What is 1U Server Colocation?
1U server colocation refers to a shared environment whereby customer provided equipment (servers, switches, routers) is co-located within a cabinet with other Prospeed.net customers. Due to the shared environment, customers must schedule an appointment to access their equipment. While the network configuration varies customer-to-customer, the most common arrangement is one in which a Fast Ethernet cross connect, burstable to 100 mbps, is delivered from the shared Prospeed.net switch to the customer's equipment.
In general, the 1U shared server colocation is an economical entry-level service. Customers that may require 24/7 access, additional security precautions, greater power amounts, or non-shared networking should consider the half and full cabinet services.
